Rental License Needed?

I want to stress the importance of having a license permitting you to rent out your home. All towns have differentrules so please contact them with your questions. This is just aninformative notice and not legal advice. If you are unsure if your townrequires such a license, my suggestion would be to call the City Clerk's officein the town your property is located. Explain to them that you rent your property out and ask them what licensing, if any, is required.

Some municipalities such as The Wildwoodsare cracking down on unlicensed landlords and fining them $1,200 per bedroomper property. It's worth paying the small fee compared to theconsequences. Also, some towns such as Sea Isle City, have a deadline date to get thelicense and if you do not get it by that date, the fee doubles because it isconsidered late. So please pay attention to the deadline because the fee goesup considerably if you get it after the designated date.
